MENDOCINO COUNTY WOMEN’S BAR ASSOCIATION

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION (2020) 

Scholarship Amount: $500 - $1,000

Deadline: January 15, 2020 

Since it was founded, the Mendocino County Women’s Bar Association (MCWBA) has encouraged women to enter and excel in the legal profession. In furtherance of this mission, the MCWBA is pleased to offer a number of scholarships to law school students or recent law school graduates who plan to sit for the California Bar Examination. The scholarship is open to applicants regardless of gender and persons of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Requirements 

To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate each of the following:

(1)        Significant ties to Mendocino County.

(2)        Satisfactory completion of a minimum of one year of law school.

(3)        Commitment to increasing women’s access to legal services and/or involvement in the practice of law.

Application Materials

To apply, please submit the following materials:

Personal Statement. The personal statement must be typed, double-spaced, and no longer than two pages. Please discuss: (a) What are your academic and career goals and how are they related to promoting women’s access to and involvement in the legal system? (b) What are your ties to Mendocino County? (c) How will the scholarship benefit you? How do you plan to use the funds?

Please also include any special considerations you would like the MCWBA scholarship committee to consider.

Resume. The resume should set forth relevant work, educational, and/or volunteer experience.

Proof of Enrollment. Please provide proof of enrollment in, or proof of graduation from, a law school accredited by the American Bar Association or the State of California Committee of Bar Examiners.
